The stone dates from 1000–1100. On several Gotlandic picture stones wagons and sledges are depicted. Heavier transportation was probably carried out using sledges during the winter time when accessibility was greater. During the ice and snow-free periods walking or riding were probably preferred, or alternatively transportation by boat. The grave at Oseberg in Norway, as well as the Gotlandic picture stones indicate the existence of horse-drawn wagons, which would require a widely-varied road network system.
