The stone was retrieved from a large burial site, and has been dated to 600–800. What exactly the picture is supposed to illustrate is unknown. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ has been suggested – a story which certainly would have been familiar to the Gotlanders at that time, due to their extensive trading journeys in foreign countries. Contrarily, this could be a depiction of a funeral.

The most interesting feature however, are the clothes worn by both men. These have been

drawn with great care. The Gotlandic picture stones provide an invaluable source of information regarding Viking Age dress. Numerous pictures provide examples of long trousers, baggy riding breeches, tunics, cloaks, skirts, aprons and shawls. Jewellery, brooches and other dress accessories are richly represented in the graves, thus adding to our knowledge of the Viking Age fashion.
